BACKGROUND ON ThIS MEETING: – We are going to REQUEST that HaysCAD review RMR valuations as a whole (not individual properties), since the increase was pretty uniform across RMR. Virtually all lots were raised exactly 100%. VIrtually all developed properties were raised by over 40% – We do not know if HaysCAD will actually follow through and adjust the values for 2024. They do not have a defined process for handling an issue like this at the neighborhood level. Michael feels there is precedent, at least from other counties, for HaysCAD to make such an adjustment. But we have no guarantee that HaysCAD will take action – The total amount we are going to pay Michael at this time is $500 for representing us at this meeting. Personally, I do not think there will be any further meetings about 2024 values, unless we get a big surprise from this meeting. I would hope if HaysCAD says they will make adjustments, but requires further information from the neighborhood and/or from Michael, at that point hopefully the POA would step up. Again, I think there’s a slim chance that this process moves forward after this meeting, but I guess we could be surprised. Whether or not we take this meeting with HaysCAD about 2024 values, I think we can all see we have a road ahead of us to gather political support for change at HaysCAD, to gather supporters in other neighborhoods, and possible to bring this to the attention of the media or even political representatives beyond our county.
